That crisp feeling is in the air. The leaves are changing, and trick or treat is coming. But the Coronavirus has not gone away, and we all must decide what works best for our families during the COVID-19 pandemic. No matter what side of the fence you are on. Fun does not have to be sacrificed. SERVPRO of North Columbiana County has made a list of a little to no Halloween, a moderate amount of Halloween, and what not to do on Halloween. Here are some ideas.

  • Lower-Risk Activities: Shutting out your lights and locking your door on Halloween night might be on your list of things to do this year. And that is okay. But do not forget about these fun indoor activities. Carving and decorating pumpkins to display them on your doorstep; decorating your home with Halloween or harvest decorations; doing an indoor or outdoor (in your own yard) scavenger hunt where kiddos are given a list of Halloween-themed items to find; having a virtual Halloween costume contest; having a scary, or not-so-scary Halloween themed family movie night.
  • Moderate-Risk Activities- Do you fall in the middle of wanting to go out with the kids? Maybe you want to do a little more than just stay in. Here are some moderate ideas. Grab-and-go trick or treat bags are a great option. Set up a table in front of your driveway or porch and place individually wrapped bags for trick-or-treaters to grab-and-go or create a tube or candy slide to pass out the treats. Here’s a how-to. The CDC says If you are preparing goodie bags, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after preparing the bags. Also, some good options include: having an small, indoor, socially-distanced party while wearing masks; going to an outdoor pumpkin patch where social distancing and mask-wearing is encouraged; having an outdoor family movie-night where friends and family are spaced 6 or more feet apart.
  • Higher risk activities are discouraged by the CDC. Try and avoid these activities this year. Traditional, door-to-door trick or treating, or trick or treating without a mask; trunk or treats where candy is passed out from trunks of cars; attending crowed in-door party; going on crowded hayrides with people who are not in your household; or going to indoor haunted houses with people in close proximity.
